Creating a Spark in Every Lesson13/11/24 - 15/11/24

📑13/11/2024

On the first day of the second phase of my teaching internship at St. John's HSS Nalanchira, I entered a new environment with a group of 16 fellow student teachers. I was assigned noon duty from 12:30 to 1:00 pm, where I helped oversee student activities during lunch.

I also had a substitution class with 9 A, where I introduced the chapter on "Chemical Kinetics." The class was a bit distracted, but I took charge and kept the session productive, working to hold their attention. Despite the initial challenges, I felt accomplished in managing the class and creating a positive learning environment.

On the second day of my teaching practice at St. John's HSS Nalanchira, I had a well-rounded experience that provided opportunities to both observe and teach.

During the second period, I observed the Dean's class in 9 B.

Later, I was assigned a substitution in 8 C, where I taught the topic of Reflection of Light in Spherical Mirrors. I focused on making the concept engaging and relatable for the students. I used diagrams and examples to help them understand the fundamental principles of how light behaves with concave and convex mirrors. Although a substitute period can sometimes be challenging, the students were receptive and curious, which made the session fulfilling.

In addition to teaching duties, I completed my noon duty from 12:30 to 1:00 pm, ensuring that students remained organized and followed school protocols during their break. I also performed evening duty, assisting with supervising students as they prepared to leave for the day. These non-teaching responsibilities gave me a better understanding of the broader role teachers play in maintaining a positive and disciplined school environment.

Overall, it was a productive day that offered a balance of observation, teaching, and supervision, all of which contributed to my development as a teacher.

Today, I reached  by 8:45 a.m. and immediately began my morning duty, which lasted from 8:45 to 9:20. It was a great start to the day, with my responsibilities helping me to organize and settle in quickly.

In the 4 rth hour I taught Physics to 8 C, focusing on the topic "Reflection of Light on Spherical Mirrors." The session covered key concepts of concave and convex mirrors, explaining how they reflect light differently due to their curved surfaces. I also introduced real-life applications, like how concave mirrors are used in headlights to direct light and convex mirrors as security mirrors in stores. The students seemed quite engaged, and many were curious, asking insightful questions about how these principles apply in daily life.

In the afternoon, classes were canceled due to the Vettikad Perunnal.
